Cirque Du Freak, a vampire flick based on the best-selling novels by Darren Shan, has been slotted into a Jan. 15, 2010 release date, Universal Pictures announced today.
Cirque Du Freak tells the frightening tale of a boy who unknowingly breaks a 200-year-old truce between two warring factions of vampires. Pulled into a fantastic life of misunderstood sideshow freaks and grotesque creatures of the night, the teen abandons his boring existence to fulfill his destiny in a place drawn from nightmares.
The eclectic cast includes John C. Reilly as a vampire, Salma Hayek as a bearded lady and Ken Watanabe as a giant. Newcomer Chris Massoglia, who has appeared in episodes of Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Wanted, portrays 14-year-old Darren.
