Clark Gregg teases dark, magical reason for Coulson's S.H.I.E.L.D. resurrection

One of the big mysteries surrounding Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is the resurrection of Agent Phil Coulson. Now, the man who brings him to life has dropped some major new hints.

Actor Clark Gregg recently dropped by Larry King Now, and the host managed to squeeze some nifty new details about why Coulson isn’t pushing up daisies. Not surprisingly, these new hints only make it more confusing.

As we already know, Coulson was seemingly killed by Loki’s hand during The Avengers — but they retconned that death with the veiled explanation that he was brought back by regular medical means, then sent to Tahiti to recover.

As we suspected, and as has been hinted, there’s going to be a bit more to the story. Here’s what Gregg had to say:

“But, every time someone mentions [the death] lately, I seem to go into post-traumatic stress. So, I think there’s a little more to Tahiti than meets the eye. There’s a much darker, more interesting story there. Something much more magical has gone on to bring this guy back to life.”

So what does that mean? We have no idea. Maybe he was saved by mystical means? Or is he just a Life Model Decoy? Heck, did Thor take him back with him for some Asgardian mojo? What’s your best guess?
