The Walking Dead episodic series has turned out to be some of the best licensed games on the market, and the first trailer for Season 3 shows just how much has changed in the off “season.”
The trailer showcases returning character Clementine, along with a new character, as they track down a walker and score a nice head shot. They’re heading toward ... something, but that’s really all we can glean at this point. It’s obvious a decent bit of time has passes, as Clementine (who has been a child for much of the series) looks a fair bit older and has apparently lost part of her finger. Telltale Games has been telling an amazing story around Clem, and we can't wait to see where she goes next.
In a recent interview with IGN, Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman teased that the new arc in the games actually lines up fairly close to the current timeline from the comics. Which means not only might some characters show up, but perhaps some factions that are playing roles in the comic these days. Yeah, that’s intriguing.
Here’s an excerpt from his comments:
“There's a lot of really cool, really exciting things coming that I don't think people will expect. We'll be checking in on Clementine again, so we'll be seeing her, we'll be seeing where she was at and what's going on with her, which is going to be great, but also I think similar to the Michonne series, that there will probably be some more comic book elements that will be worked in, and in some interesting ways. I don't want to reveal too much, but it will definitely kind of go hand in hand with the comics a little bit more than Season 2 did.”
The third season of The Walking Dead is set for release this fall.
