Cloak & Dagger hasn't even aired yet and showrunner Joe Pokaski wants the show to cross over with Hulu's Runaways. And why not? Characters are always meeting one another in the comics and we need not even mention Avengers: Infinity War. While speaking at the WonderCon Cloak & Dagger panel this past weekend, Pokaski said that before Tyrone and Tandy can meet any other heroes, however, they need to be established as heroes themselves.
"It was really important for the first season to really establish Tandy and Tyrone, even as people before they become superheroes," he said. "But I’m a big fan of what Josh [Schwartz] and Stephanie [Savage] did on Runaways and we’re always talking about 'When do we get to do our crossover?' There’s probably 400 lawyers in the way... I’m excited for however Cloak & Dagger can play in the universe."
This could help open the floodgates of the different Marvel TV shows bleeding into one another despite airing on different platforms and networks. It's understandable that the series can't crossover with the movies, but why can't there be a TV version of the MCU? Just imagine how cool it would be to see Cloak and Dagger meet up with Nico, Carolina, Gertrude, and the rest, especially since the crime-fighting duo actually had a major role in the original Runaways comic from 2003. They had been contacted by the LAPD to help round up the Pride's children, unaware that the police were corrupt and in the collective pocket of the kids' parents.
In addition, the Runaways and Cloak and Dagger are birds of a feather as they all ran away from home and unintentionally became superheroes.
Season 1 of Cloak & Dagger premieres on Freeform June 7. The first episode was shown at South by Southwest and early reactions were very promising. The first season of Runaways debuted in late November 2017 and was renewed for a second season in January 2018.
