The piano played an important part in the season four episode "Someone to Watch Over Me." Bear McCreary, whose score made a huge impact on the show during its four-season run, called it the most "musically innovative" episodes of television he'd ever composed for on his personal blog. The three-part post, which was written when the episode aired in early 2009, goes into great detail about not only composing the music, particularly the song "Kara Remembers," but the rough history the piano itself had gone through over the years.
Now, the Emmy winning composer has taken to Twitter to announce the iconic instrument has not only been given a second life, as well as a new home.
"Overwhelmed with emotion as Starbuck’s dream piano finds a new home in my writing studio," McCreary wrote on Twitter. "All the keys and action have been fully restored, so it plays like new."
He then concluded the post with "What new dreams might it inspire now?"
McCreary is one of the most prolific composers working in genre, and his work can be heard in shows like Outlander, the Battlestar prequel series Caprica, and AMC's The Walking Dead. The latter will be released as a soundtrack sometime this year, featuring music from the show's first seven seasons.
He's currently working on the music to the upcoming kaiju mega-movie Godzilla: King of the Monsters as well as the horror movie Hell Fest. Who knows how this newly-restored piano may inspire him?
