Just when you think the found-footage craze has run its course, a new horror flick tries to pull you back in (and eat your brains, probably). Next up: Pandemic.
The pitch follows a team of scientists as they dive into pure chaos in Los Angeles, where a mysterious virus has turned the masses into (basically) rage zombies. The camerawork is vintage found footage, so your mileage may vary depending on how much you like (or hate) the style. The film stars Rachel Nichols (Continuum), Mekhi Phifer (Dawn of the Dead), Alfie Allen (Game of Thrones), Pat Healy and Missi Pyle. Also of note: Fresh off Continuum’s conclusion, it’s great to see Nichols pop up in a new project. Here's hoping she'll have a long, genre-tinged career ahead of her.
Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
Pandemic is set in the near future, where a virus of epic proportions has overtaken the planet. There are more infected than uninfected, and humanity is losing its grip on survival. Its only hope is finding a cure and keeping the infected contained. Lauren (Rachel Nichols) is a doctor, who, after the fall of New York, comes to Los Angeles to lead a team to hunt for and rescue uninfected survivors.
