Humor and horror are a fantastic combination. Our senses are already tingling from the horror, making the humor even more hilarious. Which is why we’re looking forward to the upcoming Cooties.

As you can see from the trailer below, Cooties looks like a perfect example of what we look for in a humorous horror movie: part gore, part hilarity, served on a plate of absurdity. Here teachers try to survive an attack by schoolchildren who are infected with “cooties,” which turn them into zombies.

With several on-screen deaths in the two-minute trailer, it goes about as well as you expect.

Cooties was co-written by Leigh Whannell (co-creator of Saw) and Ian Brennan (co-creator of Glee), and it shows. Schoolyard humor is casually mixed with rotting flesh. Good times.

The film stars Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings), Rainn Wilson (My Super Ex-Girlfriend) and Alison Pill (Snowpiercer) and is produced by, among others, Hayden Christensen (Star Wars II and III). Cooties will appear on screen and on-demand on Sept. 18.

Check it out.
