There’s a Cowboy Bebop live-action series in the works, with a Thor writer tasked to hammer out the adaptation. Will he be worthy?

According to Deadline, Tomorrow Studios (a joint venture between ITV Studios and Marty Aldestein that also has a Snowpiercer television pilot in the works at TNT) is developing a U.S. TV series based on the 26-episode cult Japanese animated series that aired between 1998 and 1999, with Chris Yost (Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok) set to write the adaptation.

Tomorrow Studios has also teamed up with Midnight Radio (made up of Josh Appelbaum, Andre Nemec, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg), which will executive-produce alongside Sunrise, the studio behind the original series.

Set in 2071, the spacefaring Western follows the adventures of Spike Spiegel and his crew of bounty hunters (called Cowboys) in their attempts to hunt down the galaxy’s biggest baddest criminals, traveling aboard the spaceship Bebop. As they encounter many dangers throughout space, they occasionally save the world but leave millions in damages in their wake. Ha! Doesn't that remind you of something?

Having just been announced, it’s of course way too soon to know who will star in the live-action Cowboy Bebop series, but chime in with your casting choices! Are you guys excited about the news? Do you think the series is in good hands?
