The last few days have been flooded with DCEU-related news: The Batman may be a standalone film; a possible Joker origins movie; Suicide Squad 2 losing its director -- and this is just recent news. But wait, there's more!

The latest from Warner Bros. is that the studio is moving forward with its Joker/Harley Quinn standalone movie. Jared Leto and Margot Robbie, who played the villainous lovers in Suicide Squad, will return to this as-yet-untitled film, which isn't scheduled to go into production until after the Suicide Squad sequel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources say the project has to be fast-tracked to contend with the actors' holding agreements.

THR's article also states that Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are in final talks to write and direct the film. The pair are executive producers and directors on NBC's weepy hit series This Is Us. Other credits the duo have written and/or directed together include Crazy, Stupid, Love; Bad Santa; and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

Sources say the Joker/Harley film will be a "criminal love story," which tells us absolutely nothing. What else could the film be? A costume drama? This film will also fit into Warner Bros.' "main line of movies based on their DC properties," aka the DCEU --as opposed to the Joker origins movie, which will fall under the studio's newly revealed secondary line of DC films, that will "allow for the making of movies that will stand apart and separate from those big-budget tentpoles."

Hey Warner Bros., I have some advice: Why don't you wait until you have more than one good DC movie before you start creating multiple cinematic universes?
