Last summer, SYFY WIRE invigorated your Star Wars love with a sensational set of exclusive Francesco Francavilla cover reveals for IDW's Star Wars Adventures: Tales From Vader's Castle.

Penned by Cavan Scott and paired with colorful, cartoon-style art by Derek Charm and a rotating lineup of guest artists, Tales From Vader's Castle is a 5-issue, weekly anthology series focused around the Dark Lord's imposing obsidian fortress on the volcanic planet of Mustafar.

These Halloweentime stories told from inside Vader's creepy castle will deliver a selection of fan-favorite characters spanning the galaxy far, far way, including Star Wars Rebels stars Hera, Kanan, and Chopper; Obi-Wan Kenobi and Count Dooku; Han Solo and Chewbacca; and the fuzzy fluffball Ewoks.

The premiere issue appeared on Oct. 3, and now we've got an exclusive glimpse at next week's sophomore effort. Here's the cool cover for Tales From Vader's Castle #2, with Obi-Wan swatting away some hellish crimson creatures with a savage swing of his light saber.

Launching last year and already attracting scores of fresh readers, Star Wars Adventures is IDW Publishing's new Young Adult anthology, which strives to present exciting comic book episodes set within the rich Star Wars Universe.

Now buckle up and blast off for a story spun straight from the steaming lava pits of Mustafar, with the Jedi Council sending General Obi-Wan Kenobi and General Adi Gallia on a dangerous mission to Bray, the Planet of Eternal Night, where the skilled warriors must assist its alien residents in repairing their sacred Citadel of Light and take on the sinister Count Dooku.

"This is where it all began," Cavan Scott told SYFY WIRE. "Both Michael Siglain (Lucasfilm Creative Director of Publishing) and I share a love of classic horror films, and Hammer Horror in particular. Our conversations often veer towards talk of Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee. I jumped at the idea when Mike first mentioned the idea of doing a Hammer-inspired story featuring Lee’s Star Wars character. The entire mini-series really spun from there."

"Of course, Lee played so many classic horror characters so we chatted about how we could produce a Dooku Frankenstein or Mummy story, but our chats always came back to Dracula," Scott added. "Dooku as a vampire? It was too delicious an idea to ignore… and, of course, Star Wars already has its own breed of space bats - the pesky mynocks! As if writing Dooku wasn’t enough, I then found out that Kelley Jones would be the guest artist in the issue. One of my all-time favourite Batman artists! Working with him was a dream come true."
