We've all seen the famous scene of Carol Anne communicating with the dead in front of her parent's fuzzy TV screen in Tobe Hooper's beloved Poltergeist.  Now have a look at the modern take on this iconic interaction from director Gil Keenan's new Poltergeist reboot, as the 8-year-old Madison (Kennedi Clements) has initial contact with a handful of dead souls inside the electronic static of their big-screen television set.

It's the first clip released for this updated remake of the Spielberg-scented supernatural thriller from 1982, and it seems Keenan has a confident handle on the tone and texture of his reinvention of the original.  Executive-produced by Sam Raimi and also starring Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, Jared Harris, Saxon Sharbino and Kyle Catlett, Poltergeist arrives in 2D and 3D on May 22, 2015.

Listen in on this ghostly chat, with its variation on the "They're here!" line, and tell us if you believe it captures the right spirit.
