Creepy new Branded trailer delivers Matrix-level paranoia

Trailers are popping up everywhere this week, thanks to San Diego Comic-Con, and here's yet another that caught our eye: Branded, a sci-fi flick about a global corporate conspiracy that reminds us quite a bit of The Matrix.

No, humanity's not living in a simulated world while being used as food for a race of robots (at least, not that we know of), but the whole world is being controlled by corporate interests who've designed monstrous invisible creatures to cling to humans and project desires for corporate products. So you've almost literally got a monkey on your back demanding that you buy things.

But one man (Ed Stoppard) can see these beasts, and he's got connections to the corporate bigwigs (Max von Sydow and Jeffrey Tambor) who created them. Now, with the help of the one person who maybe sorta believes him (Leelee Sobieski), he's out to break the conspiracy wide open before he becomes a victim of it.

Check out the trailer below for a look at beasts straight from corporate hell. Branded hits theaters Sept. 7.
