L.A. Confidential director Curtis Hanson is in negotiations to helm the long-gestating sci-fi action thriller Gemini Man, which is taking shape at Touchstone Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
David Benioff (The Kite Runner) wrote the script, about a brilliant, aging assassin trying to leave the game whose employers dispatch a clone of his younger self to take him out.
The concept allows for some techno-wizardry whereby an older actor with a long career would be cast, and his younger likeness would be digitally grafted onto a stuntman's body. A similar trick was employed with Jet Li in The One, though not with the generational twist. Jerry Bruckheimer is producing.
Several writers worked on the script over the years, including Jonathan Hensleigh, who collaborated with Bruckheimer on Con Air, Armageddon and Gone in Sixty Seconds.
