Even though they're based on characters we thought we knew back in the '80s, the Cybertronians who populate Michael Bay's explosive big-screen franchise offer entirely original takes on those early Hasbro toys and stars of after-school cartoon programming. But the fifth installment in the franchise, Transformers: The Last Knight, takes it to a whole other level, as demonstrated by our exclusive concept art below.
If you've seen the final product, you know that Bay doesn't allow himself or his films to be limited by reality, as made abundantly clear by The Last Knight's Arthurian-legend influence. In fact, the movie wasn't even limited to the medieval inspiration, as the gallery below indicates.
The concept art features everything from Megatron showing up to a business meeting in the middle of the desert, to the planet Cybertron traveling across space to anchor itself to Earth, to a sword-wielding Transformer samurai, who certainly looks like he could give Optimus Prime a run for his money.
While these renders give you a good sense of the bonkers creativity that Bay and company were working with in developing this world-colliding flick, to truly get full scope, you really have to see the three-headed Transformer dragon, Dragonstorm, in flight in the film itself. You can do so now on Digital HD or catch it in all its 4K and Blu-ray 3D beauty when Transformers: The Last Knight drops on Sept. 26 (including over 80 minutes of BTS content and interviews). Or you can just pick it up that same day as part of the never-have-to-leave-the-house-again Transformers 5-Movie Blu-ray Collection.
