Lionsgate’s upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller Chaos Walking has found its female lead in a Star Wars: The Force Awakens star.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Daisy Ridley has signed on the dotted line to headline the big-screen adaptation of British author Patrick Ness’ Young Adult book trilogy (The Knife of Never Letting Go, The Ask and the Answer and Monsters of Men) published between 2008 and 2010. Ridley is the first to have been cast on the movie so far.

The movie will be directed by Doug Liman, who chose the project after Fox’s comic book movie Gambit -- starring Channing Tatum as the Ragin' Cajun -- was delayed. Again.  Adapting the book is screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), with Jamie Linden (Money Monster) having penned a draft.

The Dystopian story “takes place in a world where all living creatures can hear one another's thoughts in a stream of images, words and sounds called Noise.” The Noise is a result of a Spackle-created germ that killed all the women. The books follow the adventures of young Todd Hewitt and his dog when the two come across a strange, silent woman named Viola.

Chaos Walking will be produced by Doug Davison (The Departed, How to Train Your DragonMena) alongside Allison Shearmur (The Hunger GamesCinderella, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story).
