Although the sequel to J.J. Abram's Star Trek is still a few years away, we're always hungry for any new details as to what the film has in store for us. Will it be one of those follow-ups that soars ... or disappoints? Lost's Damon Lindelof, who'll be writing and producing, just gave us a few clues.
eonline recently found Lindelof hanging out at a pre-Emmys party and got him to cough up some info. Here some of what he had to say :
"The bar is very, very high for the sequel. We're looking at a movie like The Dark Knight, which went one step beyond Batman Begins. It was really about something, and at the same time it was a superhero movie. So we don't want to abandon all the things that made the first movie work, and have it sort of be fun and emotional, but we also really want the movie to thematically resonate. So we're putting on our high-falutin' hats."

Now we're not exactly sure how to take this, but hopefully it means that the story will be more complex without losing too much of the original feel. Either way, with Lindelof on board to oversee the writing process, we have faith that Star Trek 2 is going to do just fine.
What do you think?
