Two new teasers for Marvel and FX’s upcoming Legion series have been released, highlighting how different the X-Men spinoff series will be from the movies.
Produced by FX Productions and Marvel Television, the series is the brainchild of Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley and the X-Men movie dream team of Lauren Shuler Donner, Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg. Marvel Head of TV Jeph Loeb, Jim Chory (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and John Cameron (Fargo) will also executive-produce. The eight-episode series is being produced by FX Productions and Marvel Television.
In the first promo below, David Haller (Dan Stevens), aka Professor X's schizophrenic mutant son, and his friend Lenny (Aubrey Plaza) stare with fascination at another psychiatric patient who is drooling in epic fashion all over himself (seriously, dude beats a guy I once saw drooling on a fellow commuter years ago on a bus). In the second promo, David tells “The Interrogator” (Hamish Linklater) how he switched place with a young woman when they locked lips.
Legion follows David Haller, a troubled young man who may be more than human. Diagnosed as schizophrenic, David has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with a fellow patient, he’s confronted with the possibility that the voices he hears and visions might be real.
Along with Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey, The Guest) and Audrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), the series also stars Rachel Keller (Fargo), Jean Smart (Fargo), Jeremie Harris (A Walk Among the Tombstones), Amber Midthunder (Hell or High Water), Katie Aselton (The League), Hamish Linklater (Battleship) and Bill Irwin (Interstellar). Legion is slated for a 2017 premiere on FX.
