Netflix has released a brand-new promo, a synopsis, as well as a new poster for the upcoming second season of Marvel’s Daredevil. It also confirms the premiere date of the highly anticipated superhero series.
The very cool promo essentially serves as a recap to Season 1 but also teases what’s coming up in Season 2; and there's a whole world of pain awating Hell's Kitchen's blind vigilante. I just love how the teaser uses fresco paintings to illustrate the main elements of Season 1. The whole Sistine Chapel thing also ties in very snugly with Matt Murdock’s (Charlie Cox) religious faith. Check it out:
Just when Matt thinks he is bringing order back to the city, new forces are rising in Hell’s Kitchen. Now the Man Without Fear must take on a new adversary in Frank Castle and face an old flame – Elektra Natchios.
Bigger problems emerge when Frank Castle, a man looking for vengeance, is reborn as The Punisher, a man who takes justice into his own hands in Matt’s neighborhood. Meanwhile, Matt must balance his duty to his community as a lawyer and his dangerous life as the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, facing a life-altering choice that forces him to truly understand what it means to be a hero.
For me, the most exciting thing about the upcoming season will be the addition of The Walking Dead’s Jon Bernthal as the Punisher. Hopefully, the Daredevil showrunners will finally do right by the character and make him as close to the Marvel Comics anti-hero as they possibly can. Fingers crossed!
Also of note is the premiere date for the series: March 18, which basically debunks the rumors that have been floating around that Marvel would pit the second season premiere of Daredevil against Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which hits movie theaters on March 25. But before you go, check out the new poster below. Notice the Punisher's iconic symbol there?
