Dark Horse Comics will unleash two new Avatar: The Last Airbender graphic novels this fall, with one continuing the main story with a new creative team, while the other being a one-shot anthology comic featuring multiple creators, the comic book company has announced.

Avatar: The Last Airbender–Imbalance Part One continues the Dark Horse graphic novel series. Writer Faith Erin Hicks (The Adventures of Superhero Girl, The Last of Us: American Dreams) and artist Peter Wartman (Stonebreaker, Over the Wall) have signed on as the new creative team, in collaboration with co-creators of the Avatar: The Last Airbender TV series Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.

The kickoff to the new trilogy follows Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph as they return to Earthen Fire Industries — the factory owned by Toph’s father — and Team Avatar find that the once-small town of Cranefish is now booming. But rather than receive a warm welcome, Aang & Co. are met with indifference and open hostility. It doesn’t take long for the reason behind the cold homecoming to become clear: A massive bender versus non-bender conflict has gripped the town’s inhabitants and is threatening to turn violent.

Meanwhile, Avatar: The Last Airbender–Team Avatar Tales is a one-shot anthology of stories from the Avatarverse brought to life by new creators. It features never-before-collected stories from Free Comic Book Day publications and debuts several new stories.

In this anthology series, Team Avatar goes on adventures where they rescue a pumpkin farmer waylaid by monsters, go undercover in the Fire Nation, help an old rival with a hair-raising problem, and reflect on what it means to save the world (OK, that last one doesn’t sound so much like an adventure as it does a vacation from one, but it still sounds fun).

Team Avatar Tales features the work of Gene Luen Yang (Avatar: The Last Airbender–North and South), Faith Erin Hicks (The Nameless City), Carla Speed McNeil (Finder), Ron Koertge (Vampire Planet), Dave Scheidt (Dreamworks Trolls, Wrapped Up), Sara Goetter (Dungeon Critters, Boozle), among others. The cover is by artist Sara Kipin (The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic).

Avatar: The Last Airbender–Team Avatar Tales goes on sale Sept. 5, while Avatar: The Last Airbender–Imbalance Part One will be available on Oct. 10.
