Dark Horse Entertainment, the comics publisher that's brought us everything from Hellboy to the recent adaptation of American Gods, already had a TV development deal through Universal Cable Productions. Now that first-look deal has been renewed, and several new projects have been revealed.
The biggest name to come up as part of this announcement? Sam Raimi, the Evil Dead creator who's been a regular fixture in genre television for decades. Raimi will produce Tanis, a TV project based on the hit genre podcast of the same name, which will be developed by Lee Shipman (The Son) and podcast showrunner Terry Miles. A spinoff of the smash hit Black Tapes podcast, Tanis is part conspiracy thriller, part ancient mystery and totally addictive.
Also on the list of new projects is Mind MGMT, the Dark Horse comic by Matt Kindt about a secretive government agency of super spies. That project will be developed by Dan Cerone (The Blacklist). The deal also now includes an adaptation of Jennie Woods' acclaimed indie comic Flutter, developed by Katherine Lindberg and Marc Rosen, and an adaptation of The Bright Sessions podcast by creator Lauren Shippen and Gabrielle G. Stanton (The Flash).
“Dark Horse is proud to continue its partnership with Universal Cable Productions. Our companies have worked together closely with great success. We have some exciting projects in the works and couldn’t be happier about continuing the relationship,” said Mike Richardson, President of Dark Horse Entertainment.
So, add four more exciting genre TV projects to the list. It'll be exciting to see where all of these go.
