Looks like someone let slip a future Marvel Cinematic Universe connection.
You might know English actor Clive Russell from his recent work as Brynden "Blackfish" Tully in the third season of HBO's Game of Thrones. Now Russell's continuing his genre work with a role in this fall's Thor: The Dark World, playing Asgardian god Tyr. There's not much information out there on how Tyr fits into The Dark World's story yet, but during a recent interview Russell did let slip a very interesting piece of information while discussing the acting styles he witnessed working on the film. You can check out the full video of the interview above, where at about the 2:15 mark Russell says:
"I worked with Benicio Del Toro on a scene in which he was meant to be quite angry. Sitting 15 feet away I couldn’t hear a word he was saying."
You might recall that, although he's reportedly got a deal with Marvel that could lead to multiple films, Del Toro has been confirmed to appear in only one Marvel movie so far: Guardians of the Galaxy, where rumor has it he will play the eons-old Collector. Unless Russell's Tyr has somehow found his way into Guardians as well, this interview would also place Del Toro somewhere in The Dark World, possibly in one of Marvel's trademark post-credits scenes.
So does that mean the Asgardians are about to go cosmic with their own part to play in Guardians of the Galaxy, or does it just mean the Collector has business all over the Marvel Universe? Apparently we'll find out when Thor: The Dark World hits theaters on Nov. 8.
