In the span of the past three years, AMC's The Walking Dead went from a long-shot series to one of the biggest hits on television. To capitalize on the buzz, the network has dropped millions to buy a Super Bowl ad this year. Want a peek at the most expensive 30 seconds of Walking Dead ever?
The network has spent a cool $4 million to buy the airtime, though the promo's content is being kept under wraps for now. Luckily, star Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) is right in the middle of the shoot, and has been posting some intriguing photos of zombies filled with arrows. Probably a safe bet to say Daryl will be involved in some way.
The back half of season three doesn't resume until Feb. 10, but luckily we'll have this nifty ad to keep us distracted at some point after kickoff on Feb. 3.
Despite the showrunner shake-up, it's nice to see that AMC is investing the cash to capitalize on Walking Dead's popularity. Let's just hope they stay as focused on the quality of the show as they are on the marketing campaign.
