Ooga-chaka ooga-what the hell happened today?!

Earlier today, we heard the somewhat shocking report that former Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is in talks to write and direct Warner Bros. and the DCEU's Suicide Squad sequel. And now we're starting to dream big about what that could look like, thanks to one of Gunn's former Guardians.

Dave Bautista, aka Drax the Destroyer, tweeted "Where do I sign up!" with a link to Deadline's story on the news. Bautista, of course, was one of the GOTG cast members that issued a public letter to Disney appealing to them to walk back on firing Gunn from directing the third installment after his obscene decade-old tweets came to light. The actor has even threatened not to reprise his role as Drax if the studio doesn't use Gunn's script.

At this point, the third Guardians of the Galaxy film is currently on indefinite hold. But don't worry, Drax will be in the next Avengers movie, and it sure sounds like he wants to follow Gunn into that other comic book movie universe.

Bautista wasn't the only one to voice his solidarity for Gunn. The original Suicide Squad writer and director, David Ayer, took to Twitter to call the move an "incredibly brave and smart move by the studio. James is the right man for the job!"

We're guessing there would have to be a lot of intricate contractual dancing for Bautista to actually sign up for a role in Gunn's Suicide Squad film, but it certainly gets the mind moving. So which DC character do you think would be a perfect fit for the actor? There are a number of notable villains that have fought with Amanda Waller's merry band of misfits, but does Gunn tap into that funny side we know from Draxx, or stick with the DCEU's serious tone? Let us know in the comments!
