David Bradley nailed the role of the First Doctor in An Adventure in Time and Space, the dramatic retelling of the birth of the television show Doctor Who. He reprised his role oh-so-briefly in the season 10 finale, “The Doctor Falls,” and will be seen again in the upcoming 2017 Christmas Special. But he’s still not finished with the Time Lord.

Bradley will be returning to role of the the First Doctor in The First Doctor Adventures—a four-part audio series by Big Finish Productions, which will be released in two volumes.

According to Big Finish:

Joining David Bradley are his co-stars from An Adventure in Space and Time reprising their roles as the iconic first TARDIS team. Jamie Glover (Elizabeth, Waterloo Road, Holby City) plays Ian Chesterton, Jemma Powell (Alice in Wonderland, Angel, Foyle’s War) plays Barbara Wright, and Claudia Grant (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) plays Susan – the Doctor’s granddaughter and the original ‘Unearthly Child’.

Not only will the Doctor be exploring our history, but he'll also encounter strange new life forms. The First Doctor Adventures - Volume 1 will be available in January 2018. Volume 2 will be released in July 2018. Two episodes will be set in Earth’s past, while two will have him meeting two new species of alien: the Dalmari and the Ashtallans.

In addition, the First Doctor will be encountering the First Master.

Big Finish is the producer of some wonderful audio dramas, continuing the adventures of late, lamented shows like The Prisoner, Sapphire and Steel, Torchwood, and Dark Shadows, as well as furthering the adventures of the comic book 2000 AD. I can’t recommend them highly enough.

It’s a great confluence of ideas: audio plays starring the First Doctor, brought to us by Big Finish. But a better synergy? Give David Bradley more opportunities to play the First Doctor onscreen. I would watch new stories with the old Doctor until the end of time, wouldn't you?
