The year 2017 has been a rough year, but at least 2018 is scheduled to get off to a good start with the premiere of Season 11 of The X-Files. The venerated sci-fi series returns to Fox on January 3, so you may want to make sure your New Year's hangover is under control by then.

Fox has released a new video promoting the upcoming 10 episodes. With a mixture of new clips from the episodes, behind-the-scenes giggles, and interview clips with stars David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi, and series creator Chris Carter.

The upcoming season promises to show more of Walter Skinner's backstory; Mulder in a sasquatch costume ("I was out squatching"); meet Cigarette Smoking Man's son (who has the same leathery, smoke-ravaged skin as his father); more about Mulder and Scully's son, William (who may or may not actually be biologically related to Mulder), which Anderson calls "a wonderful mystery." For fans wanting some 'shipping we even get some Mulder and Scully spooning in bed.

Scully will be desperate to find their son this year: "You need him, and I need you," she says in the clip. Remember, at the end of season 10, Mulder was dying and it is believed that William's blood could hold the cure. Mulder may be showing his age when he shouts: "Do you know who I am? I'm Fox freaking Mulder, you punks!" He may as well have told them to get off his lawn. Carter promises that "we learn some interesting things about Cigarette Smoking Man, and I think those will be shocking."

The X-Files returns to Fox for its 11 season on January 3. If you need to catch up, all 208 episodes of the series are currently available to stream on demand, Fox Now, and Hulu. So yeah, you better get started.
