Ahead of the movie’s premiere this coming Friday, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them director David Yates has confirmed he's on board to helm all five Harry Potter prequels.

The news was announced by Yates himself during the Warner Bros. movie’s world premiere last Thursday (via The Hollywood Reporter), saying:

“I love making films, and I’ve got a great team, all of whom are like family,” Yates told THR at Thursday’s world premiere. The commitment is not official, and it isn’t daunting to him, either: “I only look at it movie-to-movie.”

Written by J.K. Rowling (her first screenplay), Fantastic Beasts centers around magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and takes place in New York City in the Roaring Twenties. The next film will move the setting to London and Paris (the movie is currently in preproduction, and sets are being built in Paris and Watford, England) and feature a young and openly gay Albus Dumbledore, with Johnny Depp as the Dark Wizard Gellert Grindelwald.

Yates touched upon the second movie, saying the Harry Potter creator is now “putting the finishing touches” on the follow-up and that it “feels so different from this [first film]. Much more haunting, like a dream. What she’s doing is really interesting; she’s not repeating herself.”

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them also stars Katherine Waterston, Colin Farrell, Ezra Miller, Alison Sudol, Ron Perlman, Carmen Ejogo and Dan Fogler. It opens Nov. 18 with the sequel is slated for a Nov. 16, 2018, release.
