Things are going great for Fox's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. They have a talented director in Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In) and a stellar cast led by Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Public Enemies, The Great Gatsby).

The studio recently sent out a press release that reveals more info about the film's plot. After the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes, there's a time jump that occurs following a life-threatening event.

"A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species."

There can only be one king of the concrete jungle, and man doesn't want to give up his spot. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes marks the return of Andy Serkis' mo-cap-created Caesar. He'll be joined by newcomers Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Enrique Murciano, Kirk Acevedo and Judy Greer.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is currently filming and scheduled to hit theaters May 23, 2014.
