Attention all cosplayers: Whether you're a seasoned pro or a novice ready to get into a costume all your own, the new DIY reality show Suit Up! is here to show you some of the tricks of the trade.
The show will air on Bluprint (owned by NBCUniversal, which also owns SYFY WIRE), a subscription service that aims to be the premier destination for lifestyle learning. The streaming platform has teamed up with Warner Bros. and DC Comics to reveal how you can make head-turning cosplay, regardless of your skill level.
Each of the series' four episodes will focus on one iconic DC hero, from Wonder Woman to Batman. The show's host, actress and sewist Marcy Harriell, who also hosts Bluprint's Re: Fashion, will teach fans how to render their own cosplay for cons, costume parties, or just a quiet night around the house. From "no-sew" costumes all the way to in-depth stitching methods, Suit Up! will teach new and innovative techniques to make your next costume one to remember.
Patrick Jager, Bluprint's vice president of programming and production, said in a statement, "Superheroes are bigger than ever, and there’s no roster more iconic than DC’s cast of characters. We hope Suit Up! will unite fans of all ages, sparking imaginations and bringing superpowers to life right at home.”
A subscription to Bluprint is $14.99 a month, or $120 for a full year, but you can check it out from Oct. 5 through 12 as part of the company’s free watch week. This free week is designed to give makers, doers, and creatives an opportunity to explore Bluprint’s library of over 3,000 hours classes and series around the clock.
If you want to check it out, visit Bluprint's website here for more information. Until then, we'll see you on the convention floor.
