It looks like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has added yet another DC Comics character to its crowded cast.
Warner Bros.' next DC Comics-based blockbuster is set to be a big one, the film that will lead us into the Justice League movie era we've long been waiting for. Apart from the title roles, the film will also give us Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Cyborg and Aquaman, and unconfirmed reports also note that the Flash and Superman villain Doomsday will appear. That's a lot of comic-book ground to cover in the course of one movie, but director Zack Snyder is in setup mode here, putting all the goods in place to deliver a host of new DC Comics films between now and 2020.
Even with all of those characters apparently gracing the screen in 2016, we apparently haven't reached the end of Dawn of Justice's cast just yet. It seems yet another DC villain is in the film, and though it's apparently a minor role, it could lead to something bigger as this universe unfolds in the coming years. So, who is this mystery baddie?
Devin Faraci of Badass Digest reports that the film's script includes a Luthor henchman by the name of Anatoli Knyazev, which Batman comics fans will perhaps recognize as the real name of the villain KGBeast, a KGB assassin first introduced during the Ten Night of the Beast storyline in 1988. This version of the character will not necessarily feature any of the supervillain enchancements (including the gun for a hand) of the comic-book KGBeast, but his name is being dropped in the flick, and if he survives, perhaps we'll see him again.
And while we're talking villains, Faraci also notes that he can confirm Doomsday is indeed in the film, and that while we don't see the character in Dawn of Justice, the Joker is already know to exist in this version of the DC Movie Universe.
So we're just two films into Warner Bros.' new big-screen DC Continuity, and the villains are stacking up fast.
