Screen Gems has released the first official U.S. trailer for its big-screen adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Penned by Seth Grahame-Smith, the 2009 book on which the movie is based is a parody take on Jane Austen’s seminal 19th-century novel Pride and Prejudice.
P&P&Z stars Lily James (Downton Abbey, Cinderella) as zombie-ass-kicking heroine Elizabeth Bennet and Sam Riley as Mr. Darcy, who’s no slouch at killing the undead either. The movie also features Doctor Who’s Matt Smith in the role of Mr. Collins, Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) as Lizzie’s dad, Mr. Bennet, Lena Heady (Game of Thrones) as Darcy’s aunt, Lady Catherine de Bourgh, and Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire) in the role of Mr. Wickham.
The trailer opens as if it were any other idyllic Jane Austen movie, before it quickly goes full-on zombie-apocalypse mode, with blood and gore and some nice action scenes and zombie deaths. And that shot of the zombie mom with her undead baby? Just chilling. Check it out:
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies will hit movie theaters on Feb. 5, 2016.
