There's no winter break for the wicked students of Deadly Class. And that's a good thing.
The inaugural episode of the new SYFY action thriller series about an elite school for teen assassins has stealthily premiered online three weeks before the 10-part series makes it official debut on the cable channel.
No doubt fans of the bestselling Image Comics graphic novel by Rick Remender and Wes Craig, on which the Deadly Class show is based, are in for a holiday treat.
The pilot is now available to watch commercial-free via SYFY On Demand, SYFY.com, the SYFY and USA apps through Jan. 16, and via YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter until Jan 1. The show is scheduled to make its debut on the SYFY network on Jan. 16
Using the late 1980s as its backdrop, the show follows Marcus (Benjamin Wadsworth), a runaway orphan who's recruited into Kings Dominion, an elite private academy where all the world's major mob bosses and mass murderers send the next generations.
But Hogwarts this is not, as we soon discover. Instead, Marcus must navigate his way around a dog-eat-dog world of gnarly social cliques comprised of kids from Yakuza clans, Neo Nazi families, death cults, and the Final World Order, among others, as these young wannabe killers learn the tricks of their parents' criminal trade.
Star Lana Condor, who plays the katana-wielding leader of the Kuruoki Syndicate and Marcus' sponsor, couldn't resist announcing news of the sneak peek on her Instagram page.
Deadly Class also features Doctor Strange's sidekick Benedict Wong in the role of Master Lin, the tough-as-nails headmaster of King's Dominion; Maria Gabriela de Faria as Maria, a member of the Soto Vatos and not to be trifled with; Luke Tennie as Willie, leader of the aforementioned F.W.O. and Marcus' best buddy; Liam James, as the affable punk-rock son of a corrupt drug smuggling cop; and Michel Duva, leader of the Soto Vatos gang and Maria's ex-boyfriend.
As luck would have it, executive producers on the series are Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo, while writer-producer Mick Betancourt (USA's The Purge) will serve as showrunner along with Miles Orion Feldsott and Remender.
We wonder if the Corleones will make an appearance.
