Ben Affleck and Ryan Reynolds have starred in movies for both Marvel and DC, so fans of Lewis Tan can hold out hope that the Deadpool 2 actor might actually be a contender to don Nightwing's mask and tights in the planned film.

At last week's Saturn Awards, Tan told That Hashtag Show that he would love to play the role of Dick Grayson and his superhero alter ego, and that it was among the topics he discussed on a recent visit to DC headquarters.

"I know Chris McKay wants a martial artist, right, so that’s out there," Tan said, referring to the director (whose Gotham City cred includes helming The LEGO Batman Movie). "Nothing that I can say that is confirmed. This is a project that he’s still developing and I sat down with DC, with some of the executives at DC, and they’re big fans, I’m a big fan, obviously... So we’re looking for the right thing and there were a lot of different talks and Nightwing was one of those that were mentioned, so we’ll see." Tan — who first teased his DC meeting on Twitter in June — played the mutant Shatterstar in this spring's Deadpool 2 (the second outing for Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth following his less than successful turn as DC's Green Lantern in 2011) and told SYFY WIRE last week that he will be back for Marvel and Fox's upcoming X-Force film. “You’re going to see more of my character in the X-Force film," he revealed at the Saturn Awards. "That's what it's looking like."

Though Tan is already a Marvel actor (he also had a small role in Netflix's Iron Fist series), he'd be more than happy to split his time with DC. "I'm not trading in my Marvel roots, because they started me," he told That Hashtag Show, "but DC started my dad [with a job on the crew of Tim Burton's 1989 Batman], so it would be nice to go over there and play around and find the right thing."

The Nightwing film, which is in development but has no release date, will follow the exploits of Dick Grayson, the OG Robin who sidekicked alongside Batman as the Dynamic Duo. The young ward eventually outgrew his mentor's shadow and transformed into Nightwing, a founding member of the New Teen Titans in 1980s comic book lore.
