When most blockbusters announce their Blu-ray release, they might cut together a slick new trailer compiled of footage previously only seen in theaters, throw in a behind-the-scenes clip or two, and maybe even tease a gag reel.
Deadpool 2 is not most blockbusters.
The film whose marketing campaign was almost as entertaining as the movie itself couldn't just tell us when the Blu-ray would be out. That would be boring. So instead, Wade Wilson teamed up with a Chuck E. Cheese's-style animatronic animal band and danced to a Dolly Parton song.
In the new teaser for the "Super Duper Cut" Blu-ray, an animatronic Deadpool dances and sings along to Parton's classic "9 to 5" alongside his new friends Bear, Gorilla, and Mouse and his old friend The Vanisher (who, lucky for us, is wearing a backpack so we know where he's standing). The animatronic musicians will take you right back to your days of pizza and arcade games, but then -- in true Deadpool fashion -- things just get weirder.
But wait, there's more. This weird animatronic roadshow couldn't just stop with a video. No, the Super Duper Band had to actually go on the road, which is why fans can see them in a bizarre and kinda creepy installation at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend.
Deadpool 2: The Super Duper Cut will have its world premiere screening Saturday night in Comic-Con's Hall H, occupying the time slot usually reserved for the absent Marvel Studios. The new extended cut, featuring "15 minutes of brand-new action and jokes lovingly inserted throughout," arrives on digital August 7 and on Blu-ray August 21.
