Deadpool maestro Ryan Reynolds bought the Aviation American Gin company because every successful entertainer (George Clooney, Dan Aykroyd, P. Diddy) has to own some kind of liquor. It's some unwritten law of celebrity or something, but it just fits Reynolds' personality for him to be in charge of a liquid that causes people to say funny things and make stupid decisions. Anyway, the 41-year-old actor announced his new acquisition on Twitter, writing:
"In the long and in no way disastrous marriage of showbiz and alcohol, so happy to announce I’m the proud owner of a gin company...@AviationGin."
Apparently, Reynolds wanted to get involved with the brand as soon as he tasted the liquor, calling it "the best tasting gin in the world." His investment will allow him to supervise the day-to-day business and creative direction of the company.
"I own nothing in this photo. Except that gin company. @aviationgin," he added in an Instagram post.
Krogstad and Magarian reportedly tried 30 different recipes before settling on the one they'd eventually bottle and sell. The name "Aviation" is inspired by the pre-Prohibition drink of the same name. To whip one up, you simply mix together gin, maraschino liqueur, crème de violette, and lemon juice.
"We're excited to announce our new boss, @vancityreynolds. Actor, producer, professional good-looking person," tweeted the company.
"We couldn't be happier that Ryan discovered Aviation. He wholeheartedly embodies the authentic, original spirit of Aviation Gin," added Andrew T. Chrisomalis, CEO of Davos Brands. "Ryan has worked tirelessly to create some of the world's most iconic media properties and will bring that drive and creativity to sharing Aviation with the world."
"I've tried every gin on the planet and Aviation is, hands down, the best. Also, I don't recommend trying every gin on the planet. Stick with this one," says an official statement from Reynolds on the company's website. The real question is whether there will be some Aviation product placement in Deadpool 2, where Reynolds reprises his role as Wade Wilson alongside Josh Brolin's Cable.
Cheers, Mr. Reynolds!
