Back in 2009, Zombieland put zombies back on the map thanks in part to Deadpool screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who penned the script for the "how to survive a zombie apocalypse" movie. Starring Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin, it also featured an awesome cameo by Bill Murray. It was a cult hit movie, and there were talks of a sequel for years, but Zombieland 2 never materialized.

The most movement we got on the Zombieland front was back in 2013, when Amazon Studios ordered a pilot, also written by Reese and Wernick, for a TV series based on the movie . Eli Craig (Tucker and Dale Versus Evil) helmed the pilot, but one month after it was released in April of 2013, Amazon decided to pass on the series.

With Deadpool currently taking the world by storm and a sequel already in the works, reuniting the creative team of director Tim Miller, star Ryan Reynolds and screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, fans of Zombieland are left wondering if there's still a chance for that long-awaited Zombieland sequel.

Recently, on The Q & A with Jeff Goldsmith podcast (via Cinema Blend) in order to talk about Deadpool, the subject of Zombieland 2 came up. Here’s what Reese said:

It’s actually still in development over at Sony, they’ve had a couple writers take a crack at it, we’re still exec producers and we’re guiding and helping where we can and, yeah, I think there’s still very much talk about it, but I think it has to be right, I think all the actors and [original ‘Zombieland' director] Reuben [Fleischer] all feel like there’s no reason to do it again if we’re not getting it exactly right.

So, there you have it. Do you think it’s time to let the Zombieland sequel go, or do you really want to see Zombieland 2 make it to the big screen?
