We’re exactly 10 days away from the hotly anticipated premiere of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and the hype surrounding the movie shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, a brand-new international trailer has been released, featuring some never-before-seen footage.
The gritty yet rousing (thank you, John Williams) new trailer takes a look at the dangerous life of a Rebel fighter. When Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) mentions they need a team, Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) explains he has been recruiting spies, saboteurs and assassins for the Rebellion. It also features more of Rogue One’s badass blind warrior Chirrut Îmwe (Donnie Yen) and his BFF, the mercenary Baze Malbus (Wen Jiang).
What’s more, we get to have a demonstration of the destructive power of the Death Star being unleashed in the trailer below, and I’ve got to admit, it sent shivers down my spine. Remember what they did to Alderaan in A New Hope? I’m guessing what we’re seeing here is a test run.
From Lucasfilm comes the first of the Star Wars standalone films, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, an all-new epic adventure. In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.
Directed by Gareth Edwards (with reshoots by Tony Gilroy), the movie stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker and James Earl Jones.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will blast into movie theaters on Dec. 16.
