It was on this day in 1970 that Jennifer Connelly was born, deep in the Catskill Mountains of New York. Since then, she's won an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and a BAFTA (all for 2001’s A Beautiful Mind); married an incredibly handsome superhero (Paul Bettany); and is an Amnesty International Ambassador for Human Rights.

It pretty much all started here:

Connelly’s sci-fi career didn't stop there. She also played Jenny Blake in The Rocketeer (1991).

She also had a dual role of sorts in Dark City (1998).

She was also Betty Ross in Ang Lee's Hulk (2003). Ang Lee's Hulk is great, dammit.

Also born on this day in 1970 is Madchen Amick. She is currently a pretty serious part of Riverdale and played Shelly Johnson on Twin Peaks.

Finally, on this day in 1949, Bill Nighy was born. Not the science guy. The other one. This one, the one who played Davy Jones in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise ...
