December 20 in Sci-Fi History: Scream. Also Dog Man.

It was on this day in 1996 that Scream premiered.


Wes Craven gloriously returned to the genre by playing upon its tropes, even killing Drew Barrymore in the opener, a la Janet Leigh in Psycho.

The movie spawned sequel upon sequel. Scream 3 (2000) even gave us this brilliance:


Also on this day in 1978, Invasion of the Body Snatchers premiered.


Donald Sutherland stars in this remake of the 1958 classic as a health inspector who realizes people are being taken over by aliens. The movie also has Jeff Goldblum, Leonard Nimoy, and Veronica Cartwright.

And Dog Man. Yeesh.
