We've got some major players sci-fi wise today. Let's run through them chronologically and honor their contributions, shall we?

First up: Barbara Steele, born on this day in 1937. Known for gravitating toward the creepier roles, Steele was in Fellini’s 8 ½, appeared in countless thrillers, including The Pit and the Pendulum, and was even in Lost River in 2014.

Jon Voight was born in 1938. He's been in an insane number of movies, and some of them real sci-fi doozies, including Holes (2003), Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001), and Anaconda (1997).

Lilly Wachowski was born on this day in 1967 in Chicago. And we know it's not popular to love all of the Wachowskis' movies without pointing out that some have problems, but like, come on. Those are some groundbreaking movies and TV shows.

Finally, Jude Law was born in London on this day in 1972. And he played a sex robot in A.I. Artificial Intelligence. There were other sci-fi gigs, of course. He was in Gattaca (1997), Sherlock Holmes (2009), and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004). But come on: sex robot.

Tomorrow: Fred Ward.
