Deleted Amazing Spider-Man scenes tease Peter's mysterious origin

Considering that the theatrical cut of The Amazing Spider-Man was missing several scenes we'd already glimpsed in early trailers, it seems the "Untold Story" still remains to be told. Now some deleted scenes finally give us a look at Peter Parker's backstory that was left on the cutting-room floor.

Early buzz indicated that Peter's (Andrew Garfield) transformation wasn't just tied to the spider bite, but was also caused by some genetic markers his father might've spliced into his DNA at a young age. It was an interesting subplot, though we didn't really get to see much of it in the final version of the film.

The decision was apparently made to let some of those details play out in future sequels (not a bad move, considering the film did gangbusters at the box office), but it made for an awkward theatrical film that was obviously missing some of the nuance of the original cut.

Judging by this string of deleted scenes from the upcoming Blu-ray release on Nov. 9, it seems we most definitely missed out on some interesting subplots that might have to wait until part two hits theaters.

Luckily, original director Marc Webb is officially coming back for the sequel, so hopefully he'll get a chance to tell his version of the story with minimal studio interference (yeah, right).
