We're five days away from the highly anticipated series premiere of Westworld and HBO has released two new video featurettes and a new poster, revealing some tantalizing new footage for the sci-fi TV show.

The 10-episode series (which has been on my must-watch list ever since it was announced) is based on the cult classic 1973 Michael Crichton movie and boasts an impressive cast that includes Sir Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, James Marsden, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Ben Barnes, Rodrigo Santoro, Evan Rachel Wood and Thandie Newton. Not bad, eh?

Oh, and talking about Newton and Wood, the first video featurette centers on their Westworld characters: Maeve Millay (Newton) and Dolores Abernathy (Wood), two of the theme park’s robots (or “Hosts”) who are unaware of what they really are (although I've a feeling that's about to change).

The second featurette offers a look at the key players both in front and behind the camera and explains the premise of the show. It also features interviews with the show’s executive producers Jonathan Nolan, J.J. Abrams and Lisa Joy, as well as stars Thandie Newton, James Marsden and Evan Rachel Wood.

Here’s a synopsis for the series:

Westworld is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the evolution of sin, exploring a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.

Westworld will premiere on Oct. 2 on HBO.
