We finally have an inkling of how the Scarlet Speedster will turn up in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Potential spoilers ahead!
It's been known for months now that in addition to Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill) and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will feature cameos from the Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and possibly Cyborg (Ray Fisher). But how will each of these future Justice Leaguers make their mark in the movie? Keep reading if you want to find out, but from this point on, consider yourself in spoiler territory.
We still don't know about Aquaman and Cyborg, but Entertainment Weekly’s new feature on the production of the film has revealed how the Flash, aka Barry Allen, will make his entrance.
It seems that both Batman and Superman are haunted by ominous dreams in the movie, and in one such sequence, the Flash appears in a nightmare that Bruce Wayne is having, wherein he delivers what's described as a "cryptic message." But the nightmare might actually not be one at all: It could be the Flash using the speed force to break the time barrier in order to communicate with the Dark Knight.
Director Zack Snyder says that the dreams -- or whatever they are -- may act as either warnings or actual glimpses of the future. At least one of them may involve the potential arrival of a supervillain on Earth. But either way, they are meant as easter eggs for future movies and, in the case of the Flash, a means to introduce more superheroes into this new DC film universe, a prospect that Affleck says his Batman finds both "hopeful and terrifying."
All will be revealed when Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in less than three weeks on March 25.
