Did some guy pitch the plot to Once Upon A Deadpool almost a year ago on Twitter?

In staying true to the meta nature of the Merc With a Mouth, Ryan Reynolds and company have repackaged Deadpool 2 into a PG-13 cut, Once Upon a Deadpool. Never one to pass up a good gag, the whole thing is framed as a fairy tale told to (a now grown) Fred Savage, a deliberate nod to The Princess Bride.

Now, it turns out, Twitter user MVBramley seemingly pitched this exact idea on December 7 of last year. Directly to Reynolds. Huh?

The tweet (seen above), which is addressed directly to Ryan Reynolds' account, reads "If Marvel forces you to make a PG-13 Deadpool, just copy the framing device from The Princess Bride and have Deadpool censoring it for Fred Savage as a bedtime story. A kidnapped adult Fred Savage. There, I fixed it."

Yesterday, more than 11 months later, MVBramley acknowledged this, posting screenshots of last year's tweet and a Facebook status that goes into more detail. Particularly how Disney's then-plan (now reality) to take over Fox would command a more family-friendly version of the notoriously R-rated antihero.

It could be an amazing coincidence, an elaborate hoax, or anything else at this point. Whatever it is, though, it's strange. MVBramley has since tweeted that he hopes it's not plagiarism, as he still considers himself a Reynolds fan. In fact, he made it seem like he'd be happy with just some tickets to the premiere. He's even asked the actor in another tweet to "rap about it."

UPDATE: On Thanksgiving last week, MVBramley tweeted that Reynolds had, in fact, reached out to him over this matter.

"[Ryan Reynolds] and I had a brief talk and I believe he was as confused as I was. It seems like this may all just have been a big, insane coincidence and I'm happy to leave it at that. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie in December," he wrote.

It turns out, the whole thing looks like it was one incredible coincidence, and both parties here will get to enjoy Once Upon A Deadpool when it hits theaters on December 12th.
