Just how many former Doctors will actually make it into Doctor Who’s big whopping 50th-anniversary special? David Tennant has the answer.

In the newest issue of Doctor Who Magazine (#460), out today in the U.K., Tennant apparently confirmed that there were will be no other former Doctors who will make it into the special, and that he is the only returning Time Lord alongside current Doctor Matt Smith.

The magazine has stated that: “Although David Tennant has returned to his role of the Tenth Doctor, the other old Doctors will not be taking part.”

They also confirmed that Christopher Eccleston had indeed been approached as per previous reports but was, um, unable to do so.

However, there is a rumor making the rounds that special guest star John Hurt (Alien, Merlin) might be playing another iteration of the Time Lord because of the picture below. He seems to be wearing Christopher Eccleston's Ninth Doctor leather coat and what looks a bit like the Eighth Doctor's (Paul McGann) waistcoat underneath ... very intriguing.

Are you guys disappointed that the Doctor Who 50th-anniversary special will only include Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor and David Tennant’s Tenth? And what do you make of John Hurt's character's rather intriguing costume choices?
