With not one — but two — post-credit scenes, Thor: The Dark World was a virtual treasure trove of goodies for Marvel fans. But did you catch this little tidbit?
Obviously, spoilers ahead for Thor: The Dark World!
All right, in that first mid-credit scene where Sif and Volstagg visit the Collector’s (new addition Benicio Del Toro from Guardians of the Galaxy) base, there are tons of weird and WTF oddities littering the scene. One blink-and-you’ll-miss-it bit in the background?
Something that looks a lot like Adam Warlock’s cocoon, which the mid-tier Marvel hero sometimes uses to heal up and regenerate following major injuries in the comic canon. Check out the side-by-side comparison below, via IGN:
Of course, there’s always the chance this was just a random prop in the background, but that isn’t typically how Marvel does things. They dropped about a thousand easter eggs into Odin’s trophy room in the first Thor film, so it makes sense that our first peek at Guardians of the Galaxy would offer up some eye candy.
Fuel to the fire? The character has recently popped up in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy comic (and has been known to possess an Infinity Stone before), so they could be setting the stage for Adam Warlock in that film or a future sequel.
What do you think? Just a weird prop, or our first peek at Adam Warlock?
