Did you catch this classic George Romero zombie homage in Walking Dead?

Over the series’ four seasons, the effects team behind AMC’s The Walking Dead has redefined what it means to make a zombie. But, that doesn’t mean they’re turning away from the classics.

The effects crew has been known to sneak some cool goodies in from time to time, from celebrity zombies to crazier and crazier designs. But in the latest episode, they managed to sneak in a nice homage to George Romero’s Day of the Dead.

If you were keen-eyed, you might’ve spotted a guy who looked a lot like Bub from the 1985 zombie classic wandering around among the undead masses during that set piece in the train tunnel. The camera hung on him a few times, and he definitely bears a striking resemblance to Romero’s white-out zombie style, as opposed to Walking Dead’s gruesome, rotting walkers.
