You'll be able to catch up with the children of iconic Disney villains for a third time in Descendants 3. The third movie was teased Friday night during a commercial break for the debut of the Disney Channel original movie Zombies. In the 30-second teaser, Mal (Dove Cameron), daughter of Maleficent, makes contact with her father, who, at the present, is a glowing blue aura of energy. The third film in the Disney Channel trilogy will begin principal photography this summer in Vancouver, Canada, but you can watch the first preview here:
"By adding a modern twist to Disney's most treasured heritage properties, the world of 'Descendants' has become an instant classic," said Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide. "We're thrilled that the creative team that conceived and launched this global phenomenon is back to dive deeper into these characters and the imaginative world from which they come."
Kenny Ortega (Descendants 1 & 2, High School Musical trilogy) returns as director, executive producer, and choreographer. Writers Sara Parriott and Josann McGibbon (The Starter Wife, Runaway Bride, Descendants, Descendants 2) will write the script and serve as executive producers. Reprising their roles are Dove Cameron as Mal, Cameron Boyce as Carlos, Sofia Carson as Evie, Booboo Stewart as Jay, Mitchell Hope as King Ben and China Anne McClain as Uma. More casting news will be forthcoming as production really gets underway.
No solid date for the premiere of Descendants 3 has been set, but it will arrive sometime in 2019.
