Tired of big-screen spooks and specters moving in and making a mess? Maybe Eduardo Sanchez, one of the writers and directors of The Blair Witch Project, can change your mind as he returns to the possessed property market with a chilling teaser for his demonic new film, Lovely Molly.

The latest cinematic scare cycle of spirit homes, huts and hovels has included the likes of Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Dream House, Silent House and the upcoming Cabin in the Woods. Heck, even Harry Potter got into the ghost game with The Woman in Black.

Much of this poltergeist activity on screen can be traced back to 1999 and a freaky little flick called The Blair Witch Project that left us all with nightmares about piles of twigs.

The new trailer has some jolting moments that may cause you to choke on your Cheerios. We're glad Sanchez has come home to the genre he helped revolutionize and refine. Lovely Molly is a hybrid of traditional narrative, found-footage-type POV shots and stylish dream imagery and stars Alexandra Holden, Johnny Lewis and Tony Ellis.

Here's the official synopsis:

When newlywed Molly Reynolds returns to her long-abandoned family home, frightful reminders of a nightmarish childhood begin seeping into her new life. She soon begins an inexorable descent into an evil that blurs the lines between psychosis and possession.

So—does the spine-tingling trailer set you up for eviction or signing a long-term lease? (One solution to the epidemic of haunted houses? Buy a camping tent.)

Lovely Molly invades theaters on May 18.
