With Tony Stark seemingly hanging up his armor in the wake of Civil War II, it’ll take at least two ironclad heroes to fill the void. Now we have our first look at the more evil option.
We already know new character Riri Williams will be taking up the flagship mantle of Iron Man in the near future, but writer Brian Michael Bendis is also cooking up another Iron Man book designed to follow reformed(?) baddie Victor Von Doom as he suits up in his own armor in Infamous Iron Man. We’ve already seen the newly reformed (and no longer disfigured) Doctor Doom pop up in Invincible Iron Man to offer help to Tony Stark, so the seeds have been planted.
But has Doom really turned over a new leaf, or is this all part of some master plan to get revenge for losing his godlike powers in the wake of Secret Wars? We don’t know, but we’re actually pretty interested to find out. Also, unrelated: How cool will it be to see an Iron Man who can also dig into a mystical bag of tricks a la Doctor Strange? Doom has always been an interesting intersection of tech and magic, and that makes this project all the more intriguing. Also, what might Earth's Mightiest Heroes make of Doctor Doom: Good Guy?
The first issue of Infamous Iron Man hits shelves Oct. 19.
