For the first time in history, a Doctor Who comic-book character might be on the verge of crossing over into the live-action canon. Ever heard of Abslom Daak?

Bleeding Cool is reporting a screen grab from the work prints of the early episodes of the current season that seem to show the Dalek-hunting comic character Abslom Daak included in a frame from episode five.

The pic of Daak below allegedly shows up in a scene showing a series of Who villains and characters from the past. As you can see, it appears to be taken from a screen grab of the work print episode. So there’s a chance it’s real — though it could always be edited out before making it to air.

Digging back into Doctor Who’s lengthy comic canon, Daak has been kicking around for a few decades, slaughtering Daleks while looking for vengeance. Lined up beside usual Doctor Who fare, he’s a brutal, vicious killer. So, yeah, an interesting fit to bring into the TV version.

His weapon of choice was a chainsaw sword, which he used to slice up Daleks all across the galaxy. Think a futuristic Ash from Army of Darkness, but fighting Daleks instead of deadites. But also way more homicidal.

Judging by the way it’s introduced in the work print, it seems like it’ll be a fleeting cameo, but it does open up the wider Who world to potentially having the Doctor run across this crazed Dalek slasher at some point. With Capaldi’s darker Doctor, it could be an interesting arc to explore if the writers want to go that route.

What do you think? Would you like to see Daak pop up in live-action Who?
